04/30 The days of tightening the belt are here
Having a child keeps you sentimental about other children, even those who are not yours. I used to laugh at my sisters when they would constantly talk about the goodwill of the children. Now i understand their concern as if it were mine. I fear that the child Benefit cuts would disadvantage children whose parents need it the most. The government may be trying to cut costs, but the ones who will suffer will be the children. It is understandable that a new government steps up efforts to come up with a good fit between the just and fair. Parents who earn less will still be able to get benefits, but not as much as they used to. Maybe its a wake up call for all of us to start saving more for our children. Families could pool together resources and help one of their own who cannot make it on his own. With the contributions towards pensions and benefits, i hope they will not be affected. I cannot imagine my parents suffering because what they are being given has been cut to half. The children may need to chip in and help out, but sometimes it is hard what with the same children in need of child benefits. We can only hope that things will start looking up for the economy. When this happens, maybe the good old days will come back. I know that even then, we would complain that things needed to get better. But we never knew what bad was until it found us. I am tempted to think that we are going the way of Japan, with everyone choosing to get only one child!
